The Laureus World Sports Awards is the premier global sporting awards ceremony. Each year, we honour the greatest achievements and individuals from across the sporting landscape and celebrate the power of sport to change the world.
The contenders are nominated by the world’s media, with the winners selected by legends of global sport: members of the Laureus World Sports Academy. This family of sporting greats comes together to recognise the year’s outstanding sporting achievements and individuals across eight categories, with the potential for additional discretionary Awards. Each winner receives the Laureus Statuette, crafted by Cartier, with its representation of the striving human form against an engraved representation of the continents.
In addition to celebrating excellence, the Awards provide a global platform for supporting the Laureus Sport for Good movement, by showcasing the incredible work done to transform young lives around the world. Each year, one example of this work is recognised, through the prestigious Laureus Sport for Good Award.
Each year stars from the music, film, television and fashion industries join sporting greats for this truly global event, watched by a television audience of hundreds of millions, on some of the world’s top networks, in over 160 countries.
