MONACO, January 21, 2019
– Monaco will be the focus of the sports world just one month from today when it stages the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards, the most prestigious honours event on the international sporting calendar.

Laureus World Sports Academy Chairman Sean Fitzpatrick will lead a glittering collection of his fellow Academy Members at the Awards Ceremony, including no fewer than 20 Olympic and Paralympic gold medal winners, five FIFA World Cup winners, plus world champions from the major sports.

Among the Laureus Academy Members who will be in Monaco are:

While celebrating the greatest sporting successes of the year, the Laureus World Sports Awards also showcases the work of Laureus Sport for Good, which uses the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage, showing how sport can change the world. Today Laureus supports more than 160 programmes in over 40 countries, working to transform society and improve the lives of young people. Laureus Sport for Good is championed by the members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, 66 of the greatest living legends of sport.
